What We Do
The youth workers organise and facilitate community programmes aimed at young people aged between 10 and 17. These programmes support young people to explore and understand their ideas, values and beliefs, building their confidence and life skills so that they can make a successful transition to adulthood. Youth work relies on voluntary engagement by young people. Fundamental to youth work is the development of a relationship that is based on trust in order to support and empower young people.
The youth workers work in a variety of settings, including:
- The SNAP YOUTH CLUB – High Street, South Normanton
- Schools
- Streets and Recreational Grounds; delivering detached youth work and sports work for young people who prefer the outdoors.
Our Philosophy
SNaP Youth Mission
- To work with all young people aged 10-17 years from South Normanton and Pinxton; supporting them to realise their full potential and inspiring them to achieve.
SNaP Youth Vision
- Young people will discover direction for their lives, develop positive relationships with others and to contribute positively to the communities in which they live.
SNaP Youth Aim
- To work with young people to provide a full and consistent programme of activities that are fun, challenging and relevant to need. This will be achieved by encouraging young people to actively participate in all areas of youth provision so that an effective programme can be developed and delivered; including sports and physical activities, creative issue based workshops and opportunities to socialise.

I grew up in South Normanton and attended the Frederick Gent School, but it was kickboxing that truely inspired me to become a teacher. I just loved coaching and seeing people achieve great things!
