Kelly Rawson

I am the Deputy Manager at SNaP Youth, where I oversee the Youth Work Staff team, volunteers, and initiatives. I have 11 years of experience working with children and young people. I have a passionate drive, diligence and commitment to making a difference in the lives of children, young people and families. I began my career working with young people in an alternative provision, teaching hairdressing and functional skills. This is where I discovered my passion for working with disadvantaged young people. I pursued a university degree in 2018 to study Youth Work and Community Development, graduating with a 1st class Honors Degree as a JNC youth worker. I then went on to win the Student of the Year award at the 2020 Derby Employability Awards for my work with victims of exploitation. I have experience working in the youth justice system, with victims of exploitation, domestic abuse, and family support. My favourite aspect of my position is seeing projects through to completion, mentoring staff, providing young people with opportunities they would not otherwise have and working with young people who have been deemed ‘unreachable’. Engaging with these young people at such a crucial time in their lives often makes such a difference to the way they live their lives in the future. I’m excited to have joined SNaP Youth and have many ambitious plans for the charity’s future.
