Mandy Mangold
Hello I’m Mandy and I was appointed as the CEO and a trustee for the charity in 2019.
It has been a great pleasure to work alongside highly committed, like-minded trustees who are determined to deliver the charities vision; offering the very best youth work opportunities for young people, supporting them to realise their full potential and inspiring them to achieve. Over the years I have seen how SNaP Youth has benefitted many young people. The impact has been visibly transformational for some young people as they have gained from supportive direction and inspirational experiences. Discerning what’s next in sustaining the charity and enhancing the youth work we deliver to improve outcomes for all young people is an exciting challenge that is always at the top of my ‘to-do’ list when the board of trustees meet. We want to see young people thrive in this world of constant change, so keeping up with the ever-changing youth culture and ensuring that the staff team are able to share their expertise and develop professionally is always high up on the agenda.
Amazingly, in December 2021 I will have been working for SNaP Youth for seventeen years and I have to say that I don’t know where the time has gone! I am immensely proud of what SNaP Youth has achieved over the years and the young people we have connected with and supported along the way. It’s been a real joy to work with local young people; each one is unique, bringing their own life experience, creativity, ideas, opinions, needs, expectations and challenge. I guess it’s the variety that every day brings that keeps me motivated to keep creating new and fresh opportunities for young people living in South Normanton and Pinxton.
When I’m not at work I like to listen to podcasts whilst baking or spending time outdoors either taking a long walk in the countryside or caring for my garden – being outside always puts me in a good mood. I also like getting together with friends and my family; usually this involves packing a delicious picnic and heading off in the direction of the beautiful Chatsworth House. Learning something new and developing skills is another favourite thing I like to do in my spare time. My 6 steps to learning a new skill is:
- Commit to practicing
- Take short breaks
- Switch off your phone while you practice
- Stay focused
- Get feedback
- Acknowledge and celebrate your progress.
